The first PR agencies in Germany were based on the American model founded in the 1960s. After the foundation of the professional organisation, Berufsverband, the sector grew in scope. Germany is a polycentric country with several centres of media production: Hamburg, Köln, Düsseldorf, Frankfurt am Main, Stuttgart, München and Berlin.
